wedding paper timeline

best wishes!

You're engaged! Once you've come back down from cloud nine, it's time to start thinking about your wedding and, specifically, your wedding stationery and signage. Below, you'll find a suggested timeline for handling all of your wedding paper needs.

be your guest

The first step in planning your wedding paper is to start thinking about your guest list. This is rarely a straight forward or easy task, but it's essential to at least get a target number so you know how many pieces you'll need to order.

Then, you'll determine what pieces you want and need. There are a LOT of options, so use this guide to help you determine what will be the best fit for you, your budget, and your big day.

save the date

SIX TO EIGHT MONTHS BEFORE YOUR WEDDING

If you've decided to do save the dates, you'll want to send them out about six to eight months before your wedding. If you don't have that much time, just send them out as soon as possible!

I know six to eight months seems like a really long time, but not only will you want plenty of time to perfect the design, you'll want to give your guests plenty of time to make plans so they can be there to celebrate! This is also when you'll want to put the finishing touches on your guest list.

invitations

FIVE MONTHS BEFORE YOUR WEDDING

About five months before your wedding it will be time to design your invitations. They can include any number of pieces - but are typically comprised of a main invitation, a details card, a reply card, a reply envelope, and a mailing envelope. The process of designing your invitations can take about three months.

You'll want to send out your invitations 6-8 weeks before your wedding day. If you've sent out save the dates, you can get away with 4 weeks. And, of course, your invitation design can always be fast tracked if you are on a tight schedule!

details

ONE TO TWO MONTHS BEFORE YOUR WEDDING

Your invitations have been mailed, your dress has been chosen, and the food selections made. You're almost there!

Now it's time to focus on all the day-of details that will make your wedding one of a kind and unforgettable. After all, the details make the design! The sky is the limit here: place cards, signage, menus, programs, speciality pieces... the list is endless!

your big day!

You made it! Your wedding day is here at last!

The last thing you'll want to consider is your thank you notes. We can plan for these in advance, but I typically recommend you wait until your photos are back from your photographer (usually about 6-8 weeks after your wedding) so we can share one or more of your favorite images on your thank you cards.

last, but not least

Thank you so much for choosing me! I am so happy to have been part of your special moment, and I wish you all the best.

Cheers!
